Electromagnetic Flowmeter Housing

The Challenge

Electromagnetic flowmeters are sophisticated measurement instruments designed based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. They are classified into split-type (capable of measuring conductive liquids, two-phase flows, and high-viscosity or corrosive fluids like acids and salts) and integrated-type (dedicated to conductive fluid volume measurement) models, with nominal diameters spanning from DN15 to DN3000.

Applications:Due to their unique measurement advantages, these devices are widely utilized across the chemical, papermaking, food, textile, metallurgical, environmental protection, and water supply and drainage industries. When integrated with computer systems, they enable intelligent control of entire flow systems.

Manufacturing & Welding Hurdles:

  • Complex Component Architecture: The flowmeter consists of a magnetic circuit system, measuring tube, electrodes, lining, converter, and the housing (shell). The housing is the core welding component.
  • High Seam Density: A single housing unit requires the welding of 8 ring (circumferential) seams and 1 longitudinal seam. This creates a massive workload with numerous welding points.
  • Stringent Consistency Requirements: Because these units are core components, they demand extremely high consistency in welding quality and efficiency to match the sealing and performance requirements of the instrument.
  • Manual Production Limitations: Traditional manual welding is slow and prone to human error, such as uneven weld formation, missed welds, or welding deviations.
  • Assembly and Precision Risks: Variations in workpiece assembly require a system capable of capturing the precise seam position and automatically compensating for errors to ensure structural integrity and pressure resistance.

Our Solution

Jin Luding has developed a standardized, high-automation solution utilizing the H1440-T and H3660-T series specifically tailored for multi-seam flowmeter housing production.

  • H1440-T Series (Small-Bore Solution): Focused on housing diameters under 400mm, this machine features a weld tracking system that captures seam positions and automatically compensates for assembly errors. Its adjustable angle mechanism is perfectly suited for high-quality ring seam completion.
  • H3660-T Series (Medium-to-Large Bore Solution): Optimized for diameters under 600mm, this unit features an integrated design with a three-jaw self-centering chuck for precise workpiece positioning and rotation.
  • Advanced Tracking & Stability: Both series come standard with Arc Length Tracking (AVC) and Torch Oscillation (OSC) systems, which significantly improve welding stability and weld formation quality.
  • Low Operational Barrier: The control system supports the storage of multiple welding processes that can be called up with a single button. This allows general operators to perform professional-grade welding with minimal training.
  • Mass Production Readiness: Designed for the pace of large-scale factory production, the equipment facilitates fast and convenient loading and unloading of workpieces.

Key Results

  • Efficiency Surge: Real-world implementation has shown a welding efficiency increase of over 60% for small-bore housing production.
  • Professional Standard Formation: Automated processes ensure that internal and external weld beads are uniform, dense, and meet the strict sealing requirements for flowmeters.
  • Compliance with Safety Specs: The resulting weld structural strength and sealing fully comply with safety technical specifications for pressure equipment housings.
  • Reduced Labor Dependency: Manufacturers have successfully transitioned from relying on high-skilled veteran welders to using general staff, drastically lowering recruitment and training costs.
  • Standardized Production: Automated parameter control has eliminated manual defects like "welding deviation" or "lack of penetration," ensuring a higher factory pass rate.

Client Testimonials

Taizhou Samsung Teflon Co., Ltd.

"As a professional manufacturer, the welding quality of our housings directly impacts the sealing and overall performance of our flowmeters. Manual welding was simply too slow and inconsistent for our scale. After introducing three H1440-T automatic welders, we solved the pain points of our small-bore (<400mm) production. The tracking system captures both ring and longitudinal seams perfectly. Our welding efficiency has jumped by over 60%, and we've completely moved away from relying on high-cost senior welders"

Honeywell (Anhui) Instrumentation Technology Co., Ltd.

"Our medium-to-large bore housings (<600mm) were a major bottleneck due to the difficulty of manual welding, which often resulted in deviations or poor penetration. The H3660-T changed that with its full-angle positioner and AVC/OSC systems. Not only did it improve our stability and weld quality, but it also ensured we met all safety technical codes for pressure equipment. It has standardized our entire production line and significantly boosted our market competitiveness"
